A new report has found that foot arthritis affects one in six people over the age of 50 and is more common in women than men.

Incidences of foot arthritis are fare higher in women than previously thought, according to the new study from Keele University.

Three quarters of people with the condition report having difficulty with simple day-to-day activities such as walking, standing, housework and shopping.

More researched areas of foot arthritis are in the toe joint area, rather than the mid foot but the researchers noted that looking at the whole foot and the impact on people’s lives, it’s clear the problem is more widespread than they anticipated.
