We can never guarantee results as everybody has different skin. However, Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel is designed for use on very dry and irritated skin around the eyes and many of our customers use it on their eyelid dermatitis and eczema.
The Dry Eye Gel contains an active natural ingredient called Cardiospermum which research along with customers feedback tells us works well on reducing dry and itchy skin around the eyes.
As with all products please do a patch test first.
If the itchiness is causing your scalp to flake then check out the type of flakes you have as this can help identify what is causing them.
If the flakes are small and white it could be that the dryness is a skin reaction to a chemical in your shampoo in which case try our Hydrosil Scalp Shield Shampoo and Scalp Tonic.
If the patches of dryness are red or grey and raised and itchy and the flakes are grey or silver it may be that you have scalp psoriasis in which case our Oregon Shampoo would be better as it is designed for scalps prone to psoriasis.

We would also recommend asking a doctor to look at your scalp and check the cause of the dryness.
This is a very difficult question to answer as everyone's skin is different and it also depends on the severity of your eczema. Also bare in mind that Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel is not a medication, and so it has to work in harmony with your skin's natural pace.
However most people tend to see an improvement in 2-3 weeks, though if your eczema is very severe this may take longer. You should also make sure that you are not using any other products around your eyes that may aggravate them, in particular make up removers, cleansers that contain chemicals or eye make up that contains glitter or very bright colours. Waterproof mascara can also be an irritant and is also problematic to remove as requires harsh cleansing or make up removers that contain detergents to dissolve the mascara.
In addition many chemical sun creams can also irritate the skin around the eyes if its prone to eczema, as can concealers containing SPF's. It's best to use pure mineral SPF's and mineral based concealers.
We would never recommend that you stop any prescription medication in favour of our products. However if you have already decided to do this and you are experiencing worse symptoms this could be due to your skin reacting to coming off steroids. This is very common and symptoms can get significantly worse for a period, especially if you have been taking them for some time. People can go on develop a condition called 'red skin syndrome' after stopping steroids, where by their skin is very red and inflamed and sometimes it can even blister.
If you are experiencing worse symptoms after coming off steroids we recommend you see your doctor for advice.
Dry, itchy and sore skin around the eyes is usually cause either by eye eczema or more commonly contact dermatitis from cosmetics and beauty products used around the eyes.
Our Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel and Dry Eye Concealer help many of our customers with this issue, They do not contain parabens or chemicals but do contain ingredients for calming down irritation and redness around the eye and on the eyelids, which is typically a form of contact dermatitis from eye cosmetics, or other beauty products used around the eyes. In addition contact lens solution and sun creams can also irritate skin around the eyes.
When used under make up, The Dry Eye Gel not only helps calm down irritation and redness but also helps protects the skin around the eyes from make up reactions.
To be even safer, use the Dry Eye Illuminating Concealer over the top of the Dry Eye Gel and so avoid using any concealers or foundations near the eyes. Most people find when doing this they can they safely apply eye cosmetics over the top to help reduce a risk of reaction.
Here are some tips and advice on when and how to use the Hydrosil products and how to get the most out of them

Tips
- Remove make up as soon as possible when getting in after the day’s events. Even if you are going out in the evening try to remove day make up as it will be contaminated with dirt and bacteria. Re applying clean make up for evening wear.
- Try to avoid using make up remover to remove make up. Use a moisturing water free cleaner such as Kalme Cleanser or use a gentle facial oil such as rosehip or squalene to remove make up.
- Apply Hydrosil skin products while skin is still slightly damp after bathing. If possible wrap skin in towel or bathrobe for 10-15 minutes after applying skin products.
- Wear long hair off your face when sleeping
- Avoid heavily scented shampoos and conditioners. A leave in conditioning balm is better.
- Always patch test products before use to check for skin reactions
- Try to avoid wearing synthetic or tight clothing next to skin of affected areas. Choose cotton undergarments if possible.
Hydrosil Turmeric Butter & Hypoallergenic Milk Salve is not vegan as it contains donkey milk. It is however vegetarian.
But we made an error!
The small vegan badge on the back of the tube was printed in error (it should have been a vegetarian badge) as most of our other products are vegan.
Because of this error we have made it as clear as possible on our website descriptions and in our published and easily accessible ingredients lists at point of sale that the product contains donkey milk from an animal source.
Donkey milk
Donkey milk is the most hypoallergenic milk out of all milks and the one closest to human breast milk in its composition.
Donkey milk is high in amino acids and antimicrobial proteins, making it highly beneficial to dry skin conditions such as eczema.
Aside from Cleopatra’s routine daily bathing in donkey milk to stave off dryness and keep her skin soft, in Egyptian times donkey milk was used as both an ointment and drunk to help heal reactive skin conditions including eczema.
It has historically and in modern day been given to babies and children with allergies. The vitamin C content in donkey milk is almost four times more of cow’s milk. Donkey milk also contains more lactoferrin and lysozyme than cow’s milk. For this reason, it can help skin prone to eczema and helps calm skin irritation.

We have in no way tried to deceive people that the product is vegan as we fully respect how important it is to be clear on this matter. In fact the donkey milk ingredient is an ingredient that we actively and openly promote as its particularly beneficial for eczema and allergy prone skin. It is not an ingredient that we are trying to hide.
We have discontinued our Defensil Rescue Serum but it has been replaced by our Hydrosil Turmeric Butter & Hypoallergenic Milk Salve with Cardiospermum.
We hope this helps your skin even more.

The Oregon Conditioner is a highly moisturising conditioner for very sensitive scalps.
Unlike either the Hydrosil Scalp Shield hair products or the Oregon Shampoo, its contains no 'treatment' actives, just highly moisturising, scalp calming ingredients with no chemical of perfumes and has been tested for use on very sensitive scalps.
This is our daily suggested regimen for Hydrosil products;

10 tips for managing dry itchy and inflamed skin;
1. Avoid cleansers and soaps with any anti-bacterial agents or perfumes. Use washes or cleanser that are moisturising, perfume-free and formulated for use on sensitive, dry and atopic skin.
2. Shower or bath in tepid water rather than hot water.
3. Shower off sweat as soon as possible after exercise or excessive sweating in clothing.
4. Wear natural fibre underwear and base layer clothing
5. If suffering from very dry hands or feet wear light cotton gloves or thin cotton socks on freshly salved feet and hands over night. Also wear cotton gloves under any rubber gloves which doing household cleaning chores.
6. If suffering from dry itchy scalp try to avoid drying hair with hair dryer or if you do dry on low heat setting
7. Stick to mineral based foundations for the facial area.
8. Use foundations, concealers or tinted moisturisers with an SPF of at least 20 every day.
9. Avoid using perfumes or scents directly onto skin. Spray onto outside of clothing instead.
10. Apply products to slightly damp skin after showering and then wrap skin in towel or robe for 10-15 minutes.
Don't worry nothing is wrong with your HydroBrow even though it's a bit cloudy.
The cloudiness can be due to two things;
1. The product has mixed with 'air' if the top has been left off for a bit and this can just cause aeration. The brush can exaggerate this aeration as it is can really stir a lot of air into the product. This is a clear gel so the slight cloudiness from aeration with air is more apparent. This aeration should disappear over time if the Hydrobrow is left standing and not agitated.
2. You may still have traces of other product in your brows, maybe foundation or brow cosmetics that you didn't quite cleanse entirely from your brows and so when you brush them with the HydroBrow brush a bit of this product can get deposited on the brush and then into the gel which can also turn it a little cloudy. Generally we recommend using the hydrobrow before other cosmetics or makeup are applied. The addition of other products into the bottle may react in ways we have not foreseen.
If you feel the brow gel is appearing a little cloudy in your brows too, if you stroke over your brows a few times after you apply it this will solve the problem.
Don't forget that as well as overnight, you can wear HydroBrow under brow cosmetics to help hydrate and protect brows from irritation and flaking.
We hope this is helpful.
Often the 'healing cycle' of very inflamed and damaged skin can go through a period of dryness as the inflammation goes down (inflammation stretches and puffs up the skin especially around the eyes) and the dry damaged and what feels like deflated skin is left.
The process of healing usually requires a period of treating and tolerating the dryness while at the same time keeping the inflammation and irritation away.
Usually if the inflammation and itching is kept at bay the healing process can begin and over a period of time the dryness and redness begins to improve with regular use of the Dry Eye Gel.
So here is what to consider/observe when assessing the effects of our Dry Eye Gel;
- First and foremost if your eyelids or skin around your eyes stings for more than 20-30 seconds or becomes more inflamed after using the Dry Eye Gel then stop using it.
- The first signs of our our Dry Eye Gel working is usually reduced itching and reduced inflammation, followed by reduced redness followed by reduced dryness, usually in that order (however it's not always the case).
- If your skin is not stinging or more inflamed but is less itchy and less inflamed, we would suggest tentatively continuing to see the progression of what comes next. Generally you should give the product about two weeks before judging progress.
- The healing process of damaged skin is not linear, sometimes redness stays and dryness improves first, sometimes the other way round.
- In almost all cases of when our Dry Eye Gel is working is if the irritation and inflammation decreases fairly quickly, like in the first 3-5 days.
None of our Hydrosil products contain steroids.
All our Hydrosil products contain the phytosterol cardiospermum, which is a plant-derived ingredient that mimics the actions of steriods and aides in reducing itching and inflammation but without the associated risks of steroids.
All Hydrosil products can be used daily for an unlimited period of time.
Hydrosil products are designed to be used daily as a skin management system indefinitely to help reduce the intensity and frequency of skin flares in atopic, reactive and eczema prone skin.
