The KALME SPF 25 Day Defence contains a sun protection ingredient called Nanosun, made from the mineral Zinc Oxide. Zinc Oxide provides highly effective SPF to skin, but its downside is that it forms a white film on the skin when applied. But Nanosun has used Zinc Oxide in micronised form, meaning it is transparent when applied to the skin. Unlike many other mineral sun blocs, Nanosun uses pure Zinc Oxide without other minerals such as Titanium Dioxide. There are worries that Titanium Dioxide, which is used in most other mineral sun blocks, can react with sunlight and can cause skin reactions, which is why Skin Shop have done everything they can to avoid using it.
Many people with red skin also experience dryness and so are reluctant to use daily SPF creams as they can have a drying effect. KALME SPF 25 Day Defence and Night Repair Cream contain a unique 24-hour moisturising product called Indenyl. This is a natural plant substitute for hyaluronic acid (which is the skin’s natural water retainer) extracted from the Indian plant cassia angustifolia. Indenyl helps the skin stay moisturised and prevents water loss.
Anti-oxidants are important for skin health and appearance. The entire KALME Skincare Range contains a super-antioxidant called NDGA. NDGA is up to 100 times more effective than vitamin E, vitamin C, or grape seed polyphenols.
In addition the KALME range contains an active ingredient taken from young caper buds called Derma Sensitive, another super active which has been scientifically shown to reduce skin redness by reducing skin sensitivity by upto 65%.
The KALME range contains two potent natural anti-bacterial agents, GA (glycyrrhizic acid - an extract of liquorice) and a plant extract from Lithuania called Perilla Seed, which is extremely high in Omega 3 and Aplha Linolenic Acid.
